This workshop is specifically for women and moms with children (ages 11-17) who are interested in camping, hiking and the great outdoors! Join Jen Almeida with Better Together Health and Wellness for this hands-on intro to hiking, camping and backpacking. In this workshop you'll learn how to set up a tent, hang a food bag, get a fire started using flint and steel. You'll learn how to collect and filter water safely for drinking, as well as how to use a backpacking stove and make a simple meal. Find out what gear to bring whether day-hiking, camping or backpacking and know how to pack it. Get lots of practical information such as best clothing to wear depending on weather. Get bathroom basics, first-aid tips, and know how to stay safe, minimize fears and enjoy your time outdoors. You'll also learn some trail terminology like "silk blazing," "LNT" and what they mean.
